Enter a world of dangerous secrets, forbidden attraction, and psychological manipulation with Verity (2026), a gripping mystery thriller based on the bestselling novel by Colleen Hoover.
Directed by Michael Showalter, Verity stars Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett in a suspenseful story where the truth becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish from fiction.
When struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh accepts a mysterious ghostwriting assignment, she moves into the secluded home of acclaimed novelist Verity Crawford to complete an unfinished book series.
What initially appears to be a career-changing opportunity soon becomes a disturbing experience when Lowen discovers a collection of chilling autobiographical notes containing shocking confessions.
As she becomes increasingly involved with Verity’s husband, Jeremy Crawford, Lowen begins to question everything she knows about the family.
Are the disturbing stories she has discovered genuine confessions, fictional creations, or part of a far more dangerous manipulation?
Combining psychological suspense, romantic tension, dark family secrets, and unpredictable twists, Verity delivers an intense cinematic adaptation of one of Colleen Hoover’s most talked-about novels.
About the Movie
Lowen Ashleigh is a talented but financially struggling writer searching for an opportunity to revive her career.
When she receives an unexpected offer to complete the unfinished novels of bestselling author Verity Crawford, the assignment seems almost too good to refuse.
Verity, once a highly successful novelist, has become unable to continue her writing career following a devastating accident.
Her husband, Jeremy Crawford, hopes that Lowen can finish the remaining books in Verity’s popular series.
To complete the assignment, Lowen travels to the Crawford family’s remote estate, where she is given access to Verity’s notes, manuscripts, and personal writing materials.
At first, the arrangement appears straightforward.
Lowen plans to review Verity’s existing work, understand her writing style, and complete the novels according to the publisher’s expectations.
However, while searching through the author’s documents, Lowen discovers something she never expected.
Hidden among the manuscripts is a deeply disturbing autobiographical account filled with intimate confessions and horrifying descriptions of events involving the Crawford family.
The contents of the manuscript suggest that Verity may be hiding a terrifying truth about her past.
Shocked by what she reads, Lowen struggles to decide whether the document represents genuine memories or a disturbing work of fiction.
Meanwhile, her relationship with Jeremy becomes increasingly complicated.
As the two spend more time together, Lowen finds herself drawn to the grieving husband, even as she becomes more suspicious of the woman whose work she has been hired to complete.
The Crawford estate begins to feel less like a peaceful retreat and more like a place filled with hidden dangers.
Unexplained behavior, disturbing discoveries, and conflicting accounts of past events create an atmosphere of growing paranoia.
Lowen becomes increasingly uncertain about whom she can trust.
Every new detail seems to reveal another contradiction, and the line between truth and deception becomes dangerously blurred.
As her attraction to Jeremy intensifies, Lowen must confront the ethical and emotional consequences of becoming involved in the family’s private life.
At the same time, the manuscript raises questions that may have devastating consequences for everyone involved.
What really happened to the Crawford family?
Can Verity’s written confessions be trusted?
And how far will someone go to protect a carefully constructed version of the truth?
Based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling psychological thriller, Verity explores obsession, grief, desire, manipulation, and the unsettling power of storytelling.
With its tense atmosphere, morally complicated characters, and unexpected revelations, the film offers a suspenseful experience for fans of psychological mysteries and dark romantic thrillers.
