Experience the extraordinary history of World War II with The War: A Ken Burns Film, collected in this comprehensive 6-disc DVD box set.
Directed and produced by acclaimed documentary filmmakers Ken Burns and Lynn Novick, The War explores the devastating impact of the Second World War through the personal experiences of American soldiers, civilians and families.
Rather than focusing solely on military leaders and major battles, the documentary follows the lives of ordinary Americans from four communities:
- Mobile, Alabama
- Sacramento, California
- Waterbury, Connecticut
- Luverne, Minnesota
Through powerful eyewitness interviews, rare archival footage, historical photographs and personal accounts, the series examines how World War II transformed the lives of millions of people.
The documentary covers major events including Pearl Harbor, the Normandy landings, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, the Battle of the Bulge, Okinawa and the final months of the war.
From the battlefields of Europe to the Pacific and the American home front, The War presents an intimate portrait of courage, sacrifice, survival and the lasting consequences of global conflict.
